Pause Statement
During the winter season, I turn inward and respond to a quiet, still
place. My walks and mapping of the land celebrate the stillness that
is present. This work reflects that quietness. There is less active
mark-making and more simplicity in pieces. I find this nourishing
and a lovely pause before days that warm and bursting with color,
ultimately drawing me back to more active responses. These pieces
are less about a specific place, even though my steps have often walked
these hills. Instead, they reflect moments, observations
that then inspired my use of materials as poetic statements
