Pause Statement

 

During the winter season, I turn inward and respond to a quiet, still

place. My walks and mapping of the land celebrate the stillness that

is present. This work reflects that quietness. There is less active

mark-making and more simplicity in pieces. I find this nourishing

and a lovely pause before days that warm and bursting with color,

ultimately drawing me back to more active responses. These pieces

are less about a specific place, even though my steps have often walked

these hills. Instead, they reflect moments, observations

that then inspired my use of materials as poetic statements
